Social media for charity leaders, with a particular emphasis on LinkedIn. This event will look at some of the latest social media trends and how busy charity leaders can use it to their advantage in a time-effective manner. Social media can be used both to support the work you do at the charity you lead and can also help you develop your career (either within the sector or outside it) over time.
Our first confirmed speaker is Bertie Bosrédon. Bertie has over 18 years experience in digital communications and has worked in the not-for-profit sector for 13 years. He set up the British Heart Foundation's first online team and fundraising strategy, working on national campaigns before joining Breast Cancer Care, where he implemented innovative online services tools and an influential social media strategy.
Now working freelance, Bertie helps organisations develop their digital presence, find the right tool and tactics to connect with their audience, increase income and engagement.
He produces and presents a podcast: “Bertie Talks To The Leader”, a series of interviews of chief executives of voluntary organisations. Bertie also teaches web strategy and web design to 11-year-old children at his local primary school.
Our second speaker is Damien Austin-Walker of vInspired. Damien is a digital leader with 15 years experience of developing and delivering successful digital and social strategies. Currently Head of Digital at vInspired he leads a multidisciplinary team combining technical and communications expertise with creative skills, to engage young people across the web and deliver impactful social actions.
The event will be chaired by CLE Programme Director Alex Swallow. Alex was on the inaugural list of 'Top 30' social sector CEOs using social media on 2013. He is a particular advocate of LinkedIn and some of his work using the platform is mentioned here.
