Crowdfunding Can Flourish but it Needs A Watchdog

Brewdog is a success story for crowd funding platforms, currently in the middle of a £4m growth capital campaign. The company has access to millions of potential investors through the internet. However, fears are beginning to emerge that the crowdfunding sector is unregulated. Regulation by the Financial Conduct Authority would deter any attracted fraudsters preying on backers and firmer regulation would make it easier for policy makers to support it with tax breaks.
