How about asking whether they believe the National Insurance system is fit for purpose? Originally it was a hypothecated tax but this is increasingly far from the case. Is it not an unequal tax, the brunt of which is bourne by businesses which create job and hard working families? I am sure the KP NI bill would make the point well.

What I need to find out is how the opposition and the Mayor is influencing government policy to demonstrate concrete help for SMEs - At the moment I feel it is just a lot talk and comforting words with no real action.

Ken has made various pledges which in theory would appear to help the individual Londoner but does not appear to have identified any issues relating to the small to medium sized businesses struggling to survive in London. Issues such as rents for shops and office accommodation which have in many cases risen to such levels that many shops in particular are closing because rents are untenable. These small businesses are key to keeping the London boroughs' high streets, in particular, vibrant and providing jobs to Londoners. What would he do to address such issues.

What plans do you have for enabling small and growing businesses in London to borrow money at reasonable rates from banks - in the same manner that was 'normal' up to the 1980's and 1990's? This will help businesses to grow and thus enhance employment in the London area.

What do Ed and Ken believe the government should do to help grow the economy? Also do they believe that we need to challenge the traditional 'sustained growth' model of economic success and find alternate ways to create wealth, employment and overall happiness.
