Charity Leaders' Exchange Event: "Investing in Results: Funding the Social Investment Market"
Thursday, 11th Apr 2013 at 18:00 to Thursday, 11th Apr 2013 at 20:30
Enterprise House, 1 - 2 Hatfields, London, SE1 9PG

The financial pressure on all forms of charities has never been greater, nor the expectation that they should deliver against “measurable impact”. In fact, they might not get paid UNTIL meeting target! At the same time, Local and Central Government have such weak balance sheets that they will look to offload project funding to other sources of finance but is that funding there, and is it accessible?
Away from government, “backers of charities” increasingly see themselves as investors, expecting a return and expect charities to be organised to suit.
Whatever their cause, most charities will become engaged with wide ranging forms of finance, from social impact bonds to alternative funding platforms, such as crowd funding.
Our event looks at the trends behind the headlines, and looks to the future of the social investment market. It will also provide an overview of some of the emerging funding products, including social impact bonds. It will be of interest to all senior management and trustees. Just some of the questions we will consider:
What new forms of funding are entering the market?
Are charities capable of working in a “corporate finance” style environment?
What are the risks and opportunities for charities?
What is the political game plan behind all this?
Who will be the winners and losers?
