Many of the CEOs and directors that we speak to are unsatisfied with the outcome of the work that their advisers (lawyers, accountants, consultants) have done for them, frequently complaining about having to pay more than expected on fees and costs. But there are others who, through experience, have learnt how to work with their advisers in order to get exactly what they want and at a cost which holds no surprises for them.
We've put together this Talking Guide, based on interviews with a number of these experienced directors who share their tips on getting the most from their advisers. Our research clearly shows that the outcome is just as dependent on what you do you as it is on your adviser. We have therefore also interviewed a number of lawyers and accountants about what they would advise their clients to do - and what not to do.
