Paul Byrne is the CEO of ChannelCloud UK/Ireland, a Cloud Aggregator who provide a turn key Cloud offering for IT Service companies wishing to deliver complete Cloud solutions to their respective end user clients, in their own name, without having to build out their own platform.
Here, Paul talks about the ways in which Cloud Computing can benefit small and medium enterprises. Cloud enables users to access all of their technology, previously stored on increasingly bulky on-site servers, via a hosted desktop, one which is constantly accessible, available worldwide and on any device.
Paul outlines a case study conducted by Online Computing (a ChannelCloud partner) of one of their users, who cited the availability and the fact that cloud ironed out the use of different, and potentially incompatible, software throughout their systems. He adds that these myriad benefits, factored in with the decreased running costs, make cloud computing an increasingly attractive option.
Additionally, Paul highlights the Code of Practice recently developed by the Cloud Industry Forum: this codifies and makes transparent issues like staff vetting procedure and data storage, establishing regulated stability for SMEs using cloud platforms.
